Lorraine Ash to read at Awakening from Grief program

For release November 28, 2004

During the holidays the world is awash in good cheer and music, but what if your heart isn't singing? Art and sharing soothe the spirit, and people grappling with loss can experience both at Awakening from Grief: An Evening of Words, Song and Conversation, a program to take place Saturday, December 11, from 5:30 p.m.to 7 p.m. at Studio Yoga, 2 Green Village Road, Madison.

Local authors Lorraine Ash (Life Touches Life: A Mother's Story of Stillbirth and Healing) and John Welshons (Awakening from Grief: Finding the Way Back to Joy) will read excerpts from their books. Local folk singer/songwriter Kathy Moser will perform music from her Songs of Grief and Healing collection.

"Our aim is to create a mood of tranquility and reflection," Ash said. "After the three of us have offered insights from our works and experiences, we will invite participants to share their own stories. Our hope is that everyone leaves with a warm inner glow that they are not alone in their sadness, or a thought that helps them through the holidays."

Studio Yoga is located in downtown Madison, just off Main Street above Blue Ridge Mountain Sports. Suggested admission is $15. For information, call (973) 966-5311 or email staff@studioyoga.info.
